When choosing children’s shoes one should keep in mind that the new shoes must have at least 1.5 cm of free space between the big toe and the end of the front of the shoe:
- The big toe needs 3 mm of additional space;
- When walking the foot gets about 5 mm longer;
- Add up 7 mm more for the child’s foot to grow.
It is also essential to remember that:
- When your child is under 2 years old, his feet grow by a half-size every 2 months;
- When your child is between 3 and 6 years old, you should measure his feet once every three months;
- Once your child is 7 years old, you can measure his feet once every four months.
